I'm the original poster of this thread. I complained about the sluggish performance on a 486/DX2 with 16 meg.

I agree with your point about it being a development environment. Unfortunately I often need to run the final product on a standalone PC (traveling demos) and the performance is unacceptable for that purpose.

I disagree with your comments about Watcom. I use the Watcom 4.0 engine that comes with Powerbuilder 4.0 and it is quite snappy while using little system resources. Products like Paradox, Foxpro, Access, etc. aren't acceptable because they don't support all the features I need (i.e., stored procedures).
