We've been using JAM for a few years now primarily on Oracle and Sybase. It is a good tool but it takes some getting used to. It is important that you are proficient in C as the program uses many C notations and is extensible via C. Once you become familiar with it productivity increases substantially.

We use it mostly because of its portability and no run time royalties. We have apps running in Windows, SunOS, Solaris, HP-UX and VAX-VMS with only one set of sources.

Jam's database interface is nice and simple. Yes, it will work with Oracle 6.
