Richard D Holowczak (holowcza_at_andromeda.rutgers.edu) shaped the electrons to say:

: Hi folks. We have the following setup:

: Oracle 7 Relational Database
: Intersolv/Q+E ODBC Driver
: Lotus 123 R4 for Windows

: We can query the database and retrieve records from tables and
: views. Columns that are CHAR or NUMBER datatype come in just fine.
: Columns that use the Oracle DATE datatype (which combines
: date and time) come in as a bunch of ^^^^^^^^^^ characters.

: Reformatting them as "General" or "Fixed" just gives a
: number that is not meaningful.

: Any way to convert these to real date and time ?

Have you tried reformatting the cells as "Date". That is what I have to do. The number that comes in for me is a Lotus Serial Date (around 32,000 right now). It counts the number of days since Jan 1, 1900 or thereabout.
