I am an experienced Sybase DBA that needs to learn the basics of Oracle DBA quickly. Are there any books available at my local bookstore, or better, any sources on the net that can get me there.

Tasks I need to know first:

  • Listing the database schema
  • Checking permissions and ownership
  • Understanding how tcp/ip works for Oracle (envinronment variables, /etc/services etc.)
  • Bulk load and dump
  • Transaction Log (is there one?)
  • Server-to-server communication

Thanks!
