Magna Software is sponsoring two Free workshops in the NY/NJ area to help you better understand the requirements for building Business Critical, Client/Server On-Line Transaction Processing (OLTP) Applications. We are focusing these sessions on two of the most important aspects of building these systems: GUIs and the mainframe.

Session 1: Integrating Graphical User Interfaces with OLTP Applications (9AM-12) This workshop will demonstrate how to integrate GUI applications built using "Best of Breed" client side tools such as PowerBuilder, Visual Basic or Gupta with UNIX-based OLTP Monitors and the Mainframe.

Session 2: Achitecting OLTP Applications including the Mainframe (1-4PM)

This workshop focuses on clean partitioning of application components while integrating the mainframe. If you are trying to move your mainframe-oriented TP application development down to the UNIX client/server environment and aren't sure where to start, this is a good place.

Many companies that have ventured into the world of client-server computing have done so using the first generation c/s architecture. This two-tiered model is significantly flawed. Applications do not scale well to support large numbers of users nor large transaction volumes. In addition, they are deficient in the areas of security, transaction integrity, and administration of a distributed application.

These workshops will address these flaws by discussing the three-tiered architecture and the second generation client/server. Specific implementation techniques will be discussed and demonstrated.

The NJ workshops will be at the Woodbridge Hilton on September 28th. The NY workshops will be at the World Trade Institute, 1 World Trade Center on September 29th.

If you would like to register for one or both of these workshops please send an email to tom_at_magna.com and provide the following information:
