There are many ODBC aware applications available for the MS-Windows environment. There are also many middleware solutions available that can enable you to connect thereafter. These include HyperSTAR from VMark/Constellation, SequeLink from Techgnosis, EDA/SQL from Information Builders and DAL Server for Unix from Pacer Software (the company I work for). There are DAL Servers available for VMS from DEC and Independence Technologies (ITI) also.
I hope this helps you in your search for a solution. If you have any questions on DAL please send me email.
