: Anyone has experience with Oracle 7 server running on a NT/AS server?
: Does the SQL*NET/IPX uses the SPX-II protocol? ( It seems not routable! )

: Please share your experience with us.

SQL*Net's SPX/IPX adapter does require both SPX and IPX. For instance when an application say sqlplus needs to make a connection with Oracle via Novell's SPX/IPX then it queries the local sapd with IPX as the communication does not have to be connection oriented. Once it knows the destination of the server i.e oracle listener process i.e spxsrv then it makes a connection via spx because now the connection has to be reliable.

That should be generically true which ever platform you use.
