OCI header files

I have a question on the OCI header files which, I think, are found in the $ORACLE_HOME/rdbms/demo directory in Oracle 7.0.x. Are those files supposed to be the "official" OCI header files that should be included in all OCI C programs? I'm not sure if I can trust header files that are sitting in a directory labeled "demo."
