I have been told explicitly by folks at Oracle that Oracle7 will not be available for Mac System 7 on 680xx. When I asked for confirmation of this here about a month ago, a helpful but out-of-the-loop Oracle employee ventured (via e-mail) that Oracle7 will be available for PowerPC/System 7. I'm inclined to treat this as a rumor until I hear something official.

Those in-the-loop regarding Mac at Oracle do not post to this group and the discussion of Oracle is almost non-existent on comp.sys.mac.databases

Oracle has announced support for Oracle7 on PowerPC/PowerOpen. I assume this is what Neal meant by "waiting a year" since PowerOpen now looks like next Jan. if you believe MacWeek.

Running Oracle on AU/X is problematic since it is not being ported to PowerPC. PowerOpen will be derived from AIX which has a totally different heritage.
