Hi Danny,

Basically you have two choices:

  1. ( IBM ) ( ORACLE ) | | +-----+ +------+ | | ( Transaction Manager)

where the TX mgr can be something like Tuxedo, Top End, etc. as long as it adheres to the XA standard. Alternatively, you could write your own...

When you run purely on MVS, you can also use CICS.

2) Wait for ORACLE's Gateways.

Oracle will start rolling out their IBM gateways in the coming months, SQL*Connect to DRDA/DB2 and DRDA/SQL400 are already production. Additionally, there will be read-only versions of SQL*Connect to IMS and VSAM in the next few months. Finally, they'll bring out a R/W version of the IMS connect.

You can call up your local Oracle office and ask for information about Oracle's XA product for Unix ports, and info on SQL*Connect.
