These errors mean one of two things:
- The remote database was not started with remote_os_authent set to true in the init.ora
-or-
2) getpwent() returned failure when oracle attempted a lookup on the remote machine.
Not using NIS? OPS$ users must exist on the target database's machine.
Using NIS? Well, possibly a wrong version of getpwent(), one that doesn't grok NIS, was linked against oracle. There is a problem like this with SGI IRIX 5.0 machines due to library ordering - though I can't say I've seen it on Suns. Sun OS or Solaris? NIS or NIS+? Received on Tue Dec 28 1993 - 17:22:53 CET
