     I've never heard this ?!  All of the performance tests I've seen
     of relational DB put Oracle in either 1st or 2nd place.  The recent
     PC Magazine review for Netware based RDBMSes had Oracle 7 a hands
     down winner.  I've used Ingres, Sybase and a bunch of PC based
     do-dads (FoxPro, Clipper, etc.) and have found no performance lag
     on Oracle's part.

     Can anyone else relate some head to head performace claims ?
