In the past few years, a lot of things was said about oject-oriented database vs relational SQL databases. Well now it seems that that comparaison can be made between version 6.0 and 7.0. In the manuls of versions 7.0 the word comes often ! The concept of role seems to be very object oriented. The term schema seems to have also a o-o flavor. But the interface to the user is still SQL!

My reflection is this: with objects, optimising the database will surely by different to DBA. But user will still do the same kind of requests! How will DBA juggle with that? The database will probably be easier to manage with roles and all.. But how does distributing responsibilities to different objects affect performance ?
