DDL lock, timeout!

Hi!
I am running Dynamic SQL and everytime I execute an ALTER TABLE option from my Motif Interface, I get an error:

ORA-00058: timeout occurred while waiting for DDL lock

Few minutes back, the same query worked fine. But, somehow when I tried it again, the Data Definition Lock error keeps coming again and again. This error code is not mentioned anywhere in the ORACLE Error Codes Manual.
