SQL*REP - how to Center-Justify a variable

I am trying to Center-Justify a variable. This variable is defined as 80 characters long and I have specified CENTER in the alignment option. However, this still does not center the variable - it is always left-justified.

I tried trimming any trailing blanks and this still did not work. Am I missing something here to make the CENTER alignment work ?
