Hi,
Further to what Daniel has suggested to stop the database with dbshut
you should also make sure that you shutdown the listener, intelligent
agents, OMS (if on same box), http server (if used), isqlplus (if used).
You should have some scripts already in place to shutdown the database
and all of the other bits mentioned. The UPS should just issue a
shutdown command and that should just pick up the normal database stop
stuff.
