problem with set suf '' in sqlplus

i'm used the follow instruction with Sqlplus (oracle 8.1.7)

set suf ''

start c:\tmp\toto

toto is a sql script without extension.

Now, i used oracle 9.2 and i have sqlplus error :

SP2-0310: impossible d'ouvrir le fichier "c:\tmp\toto"
