Thanks. What I found referred to 8.1.6 and is:
DBMS Version: Oracle Standard 8.1.6
Operating System and Version: NT 4 SP 5
Error Number (if applicable): ORA-12571
Product (i.e. SQL*Loader, Import, etc.):
Product Version: 8.1.6
ORA-12571: TNS:packet writer failure
Found by a straight search under ORA-12571.
