Only if your DBA has an investment in staying current with the state of Oracle recommendations and technology.

Ask the following questions of your DBA
1. Are we using dictionary managed or locally managed tablespaces? 2. What is the difference in 9i between rollback segments and undo?

The answers will let you know whether they are keeping up or stagnating.
