Try this, it may help...

1.  Shut down the DB, and make sure it won't automatically restart on you.
2.  Right click on my computer, go to manage.
3.  in manage, expand the services 'menu' (on right window).
4.  Press on services.  That should bring up a list of all the services,

running or not. Scroll down till you find the Oracle services (I think ALL of them start with Oracle....., but I'm not sure). Highlight them and press stop.
5. If that doesn't work, drop kick your computer, and try to find a different solution.
