Can someone please clarify for me? I'm a bit confused. What exactly IS the
"Oracle HTTP Server/Mod PL/SQL Gateway" ... as opposed to Oracle9iAS?

I installed Oracle9i Database on XP Pro. One of the individual components that I've installed was the "Oracle HTTP Server." This component includes
"Oracle Mod PL/SQL Gateway."

I get this from the "Oracle9i Database Installation Guide" (Part Number A90162-01), Appendix A, the "Oracle9i Database Components" section.

But what's the difference between this "Mod PL/SQL Gateway" and what Oracle9iAS offers? I'm sure 9iAS offers many more features, but is this
"Mod PL/SQL Gateway" that comes with just the 9i DB the same as what's with
9iAS?

I'm thinking not because I can't seem to invoke any of my stored procedures via the web. Always get 503 - Service Temporarily Unavailable error. I look through MetaLink and see hints about running ssodatan.cmd and such. But I can't find that... and I believe that's because I'm not running 9iAS... just the 9i DB. Unless, I'm missing something else?

So if this "Mod PL/SQL Gateway" component of the 9i DB is not the same as 9iAS... what does it do?

TIA,
Verna
