The best is, download freetoad and the trial version of ezsql. What are tools like TOAD / EZSQL for ?
-for the DBA they make his job a little easier, but cannot replace the tools that come with Oracle, especially in the area of setting up the database, spreading the data across drives, backup strategies etc. -for a developer they provide a real nice interface to oracle that mainly serve to replace SQL*Plus, the rather primitive tool that Oracle supplies as SQL frontend script editor. -the feature differences between the two are in my opinion of secondary importance. You can use them to develop and test PL/SQL triggers, stored procedures and functions. And in my opinion both do it equally well. The stuff around that, performance monitor, sql-builders etc. I have never used. Perhaps someone else did.
