PHP installation problems on IAS under NT

We are just installed PHP4.04 on out NT box running IAS101 (ie Apache 1.3). However, we were unable to call any php pages via the IAS. The test program is only a one liner:
<?phpinfo?>
When we try to call this page we get an 'Internal Server Error'. According to error log it is because test.php is not executable!?
We have followed the installation instruction provided and have altered the conf file and copied .dlls and ini to the right place.
Has anybody else experienced this problem and found a solution?
