I've never used the OO4O, but I thought that it was always a separate download on technet and it existed for the older version of Oracle client installs too (ie. for oracle7 client directories) . Can you make use of one of those other OO4O install files and determine what it put where, then use your other client to install to a new multi-home aware directory for your new app?

I would think if you'd do that, you should specify a different directory than [driveletter]:\orant for your 8.1.5 client install.

Your lucky if you get any support from Oracle for deploying anything. I've worked with their stuff for 8+ years and they are PATHETIC in that area.
