Hi,

[Quoted] First I need to thank you for your information. I can step one step forward now.

I check my machine and got something called "Net 8 Configuration Assistance" and can be used to set up a listener. But I am very curious that the listener is set up without letting me specify the database.

In the past, I worked with PROGRESS database (thank God, it's no more). PROGRESS database starts up a server for each database, and at the command of startup, one specifiy the host name and service name. Therefore it is very clear which database is using which host and service name.

But with ORACLE, how can I distinguish service name between two databases, say, ORAPROD and ORATEST? When I set up the listening, it doesn't specify the name associate with any database name.
