OEM is java based and therefore slow - unless you run it on a fast machine with good memory. A P833 with 256-512M will be fast enough. You should seriously consider OEM because Oracle is headed in the direction of making this the management tool for almost all of its products - including iAS, RMAN etc. etc. It is becomming much more than a database management/tuning tool.

And yes, there are some weaknesses. With luck, over time they'll be reduced.
