Re: F45 question (not for Sybrand Bakker the social misfit)

Mike,

In a newsgroup forum such as this, the community of regular visitors/posters should encourage new and inexperienced posters to the newsgroup. This is allows the community to grow and increase the circle of knowledge.

To be rude and condescending to posters who do not have the same level of knowledge as you is detracting from the very ethos of a newsgroup.

After all, if it weren't for people asking questions (however obvious it me seem to the more experienced), newsgroups would not exist.

Sybrand is CONSISTENTLY rude and sometimes offensive to most of the people he "advises".

The one that triggered my post was this one .....

..... This is nonsense, selects are not logged .....

..... This is nonsense too. It is the insert that locks the table .....

..... Please try at least to master the Oracle concepts before you start using it in an interdisciplinary context. Most likely you are now creating an interdisciplinary mess. I have seen a few projects where pl/sql,c++,java, and visual basic have been employed, and the qualification mess applies to all of them.

Regards,

Sybrand Bakker, Oracle DBA

This type of "help" has an unneccesary thread of rudeness running through it.

Why does he feel he cannot give help without being abusive?

I do not disagree with you that he is very knowledgable in most of the areas he helps out in, and that he does contribute a lot.

I just can't understand why you condone his obnoxious undertones just because he helps you.

For every person he helps, there is another person who won't post again because of his attitude.

My post may be strong, but I have only been rude to one person, he is rude to MANY.

And yes I also agree that I did lower myself to his level in my post, but you can rest assured that I will not be reduced to that level again.

We cannot say the same about Sybrand can we.

Pol.
