Installing ORACLE Reports Thin Client with 8i

Hi. I have a machine that has ORACLE 8i and WEBDB installed on it. I am trying to run Reports from WEBDB which bumps up against the Reports Server which I have installed on a second machine. When my DBA tried to install the ORACLE Reports Thin Client on the WEBDB machine, it said to use the DEFAULT HOME, but when he selected that it said that multiple homes cannot be installed on this machine? Is there something we can do, or must the 8i database reside on a machine by itself.
