running reports to a file

Please help,
We are running Oracle Reports 3.0 and we are trying to run our reports to a file. However, when we look at the file it is not even close to being formatted correctly. We are trying to do a landscape report and no matter what we try it will not see the file as landscape when we view it in wordpad. We have to save a lot of reports to files and we really could use some help!
