Problem with "show_alert" command in web forms

I am running web forms under NT 4.0 with Oracle web server 2.1 and the Oracle forms server. I am using IE 4.0 as my browser to call up the web forms. Whenever I call an alert with the "show_alert" command, after I click on "Yes", "No", or "Cancel", communication with the application is broken, but the application window stays visible. Everything works fine until I pop up the alert, then nothing works any more. Has anybody else had this problem? Is there a fix? Please email any replies as well as posting to this group. Thanks!
