                     REQUEST FOR DISCUSSION (RFD)
          unmoderated group comp.databases.oracle.webserver

This is a formal Request For Discussion (RFD) for the creation of a world-wide unmoderated Usenet newsgroup
comp.databases.oracle.webserver. This is not a Call for Votes (CFV); you cannot vote at this time. Procedural details are below.

Newsgroup line:
comp.databases.oracle.webserver Oracle Webserver site developers' forum.

RATIONALE: comp.databases.oracle.webserver

Traditional Oracle Server users aren't interested in the rapidly increasing number of Oracle Webserver-type questions and it's painfull seeking out those postings which ARE of interest to Oracle Webserver practioners.

The newsgroups comp.infosystems.www.* are general in nature and do not cater for people developing dynamic Web pages which are created using PL/SQL. They also do not deal with issues like creating new listeners/ ports with this product.

I suggest that a new group be created called comp.databases.oracle.webserver to cater for the needs of people who are responsible for developing interactive Web sites based on this product.

CHARTER: comp.databases.oracle.webserver

comp.databases.oracle.webserver is an unmoderated group for discussion among people who are responsible for developing interactive Web sites based on this product.

The group is open to anyone with an interest in installing or developing interactive Web sites on any platform which supports Oracle Webserver.

The focus of the group is on the particular problems and opportunities which people encounter when trying to install, configure or use Oracle Webserver to develop interactive Web sites.

Postings containing MIME attachments, graphics, binary files, and long program listings are not acceptable. Commercial advertisements are NOT welcome although personal users of this forum seeking employment opportunities or assistance would be welcome.

END CHARTER. PROCEDURE: This is a request for discussion, not a call for votes. In this phase of the process, any potential problems with the proposed newsgroups should be raised and resolved. The discussion period will continue for a minimum of 21 days (starting from when the first RFD for this proposal is posted to news.announce.newgroups), after which a Call For Votes (CFV) may be posted by a neutral vote taker if the discussion warrants it. Please do not attempt to vote until this happens.

All discussion of this proposal should be posted to news.groups.

This RFD attempts to comply fully with the Usenet newsgroup creation guidelines outlined in "How to Create a New Usenet Newsgroup" and "How to Format and Submit a New Group Proposal". Please refer to these documents (available in news.announce.newgroups) if you have any questions about the process.
