FOR RELEASE SEPTEMBER 17, 1997 SoftEx in Manufacturing Conference, Los Angeles - One of the leading Enterprise Resource Planning software packages now is Web Enabled, with major new features and a new name. NDS Applications, recently ranked by Manufacturing Systems Magazine as one of the best-selling ERP systems, will with version 6 be called Synergistic Applications. All financial, manufacturing and distribution modules will be accessible to LAN and Internet users using a World Wide Web interface, according to John Varel, President of Synergistic Computer Solutions. This capability will allow sales and other personnel to create or check the status of orders, produce reports and use the entire system. End-user requirements are reduced to any computer with a connection and a web browser.

In addition to being Web-enabled, Synergistic Applications version 6 has a completely new Intelligent Product Configurator. The software can not only create a custom Bill of Materials, but also custom routings for that order that will enable manufacturers to assemble products on demand. The Intelligent Product Configurator is easy for anyone to use, with a Windows 95 Explorer "look-and-feel." This module is important in companies that have Assemble-to-Order, Kitting, and Engineer-to-Order requirements, generally considered the fastest growing segment of the manufacturing marketplace.

Synergistic Applications version 6 has an enhanced General Ledger that brings the power of larger and more expensive systems to small and medium-sized companies at an affordable price. New "Flex-Fields" let the user make changes in their account structure and numbering system "on the fly" and without programming.

Another important improvement in version 6 is Rules-based Audit Trails. The user can define what parts of their database are audited, and capture before-and-after images down to the field level. Audit Trail preferences are customizable at any time without programming. This feature is useful to those companies interested in meeting ISO 9000 / QSO 9000 certification.

According to Varel, "With these new features Synergistic Applications becomes an even bigger player in the small-to-midsized financial, manufacturing and distribution marketplace. There isn't anywhere else companies can get great Oracle-based ERP software at anywhere near our price."

Synergistic Applications are the only 100% Oracle-based turnkey solutions affordable for companies with annual sales up to 300 million. Pricing ranges from $20,000 for as few as 5 concurrent users to about $175,000 for 60 concurrent users. Other completely Oracle-based products can cost 15 times as much for the software alone, without taking into account additional expensive implementation and support services.

Synergistic Applications can run its Oracle database server software on over 100 hardware & operating system combinations, including Windows NT, Sun SPARC and HP Unix.
