You did not put your OS in the post so I am not sure of tools that you have at your disposal. If you are on SUN you could:

% truss -f -o <output_file> f45desm

Look at the ouput and look for Err #2 when opening a file that most likely ends with ".res".

You could also set an environment variable DEBUG_SLFIND to a filename and run the designer. Look through that output for files that it can not locate at all.
