Who uses active data guard?

Oracle has great technology such as Active Data Guard where one can do reporting from a standby database which is in synch with production database; but I have not found any application for it. My company buys off the shelf applications such as Documentum, SAP, Trackwise (Event Tracking System) and all applications have been deigned to have a centralized database. Since vendor does not support a separate database for reporting, it is hard to convince management to use an unsupported configuration which can stop working any time!!
