If they knew about the DROP DATABASE command that was added to 10g, they probably would have recommended using that. If I recall correctly, something like ORADIM -DELETE -SID xxx, and then start fresh was recommended. I talked to a couple customers who attended the Oracle session at the conference, and one of them wondered if there was a problem with only doing this once per year. I am fairly sure that that customer is no longer following this procedure.

One more from that conference session related to using the exp command: specify COMPRESS=N because there is no need to compress the export file, just use Winzip before sending the export file to us - or something along those lines. The parameters that were recommended were correctly, but for the wrong reasons.
