A standby database if it is part of your tested and ready to go disaster recovery procedures should be patched to be at the same level as the production database that it is a standby for.

Any other setup is just asking for trouble.

You can install oracle in a different home so that you have 2 separate oracle homes in your current setup and then switch the standby to operate out of it's own oracle home.

Then patch the test environment first and do your validation and acceptance testing of the patches without affecting how the standby operates. Received on Sat Oct 28 2006 - 14:22:26 CDT
