Yes, I imagine I could get some of it going - it's the 'delta' between having the service running and making the instance available that I am hazy on. On UNIX, it's easy - pfile + ORACLE_SID + "startup nomount" = instance. Windows' obscurities will be the death of me.

BTW - Just had to clobber the OUI - hung solid on the Net8 config. Guess I'll have to see what kind of rubble I've left behind. ;)

Hell with it - I'll try _one_ more time to clean up the mess and get 8i up - after that I'm doing this with 10. The test is more about proving out a new topology for our app servers, so as long as they can hit _a_ database, I really doubt it'll matter. ;)) Received on Wed Mar 01 2006 - 17:50:52 CST
