| Hello,
| I am trying to configure an snmp agent that queries oracle instances
| for performance data.
| in this agent i must specify oratab and ORACLE_HOME
| no probs with ORACLE_HOME it is
| ORACLE_HOME=/ora8/m01/app/oracle/product/8.1.7
|
| but oratab is missing!!!
| find / -name oratab -print
| oracle is running and working OK.
|
| root_at_sun18 # uname -a
| SunOS sun8 5.9 Generic_118558-14 sun4u sparc SUNW,Sun-Blade-100
|
| crikey what can i do now? I thought oratab was essential..
|
| TIA
|
| Ton
|

It is optional, oratab just lists all the instances you want or do not want to startup/shutdown with the standard Oracle startup/shutdown script.
