You're only as good as your archive log backups. If you screw one up,
you may be screwed completely. If you keep control of your backups
within RMAN (i.e. let RMAN delete your archived logs), you'll mitigate
the risk of deleting logs not yet backed up in RMAN.
Then, you may never need to run a crosscheck; nor blindly execute delete expired commands. Unless you want to spend your doing these repetitive tasks every day/week/etc... I think there's bigger fish to fry for a DBA. Received on Thu Dec 08 2005 - 08:58:46 CST
