i certainly agree..I stand very strong when i have a technical explanation about my claim at the same time try to build good relationship with developers.. i don't play the database guardian role.. Normally, i'd be very stern if this was brand new topic, but they did this "reorg" last 6 years utill i started working on this database and it is very hard to speak into their minds and hearts that what they were doing all those years was just a stupid thing.. Actually, I don't have problem with developers, they are all convinced.. just their manager.. he also understands the technical explanation but i guess he doesn't want to believe it..and i think he affects the bussiness community about this issue.. but, my own manager is very supportive of me..if i get pushed, i'll ask other DBA do the reorg and settle the score once and for all...
