When you are dealing in a specialised domain with very few application vendors, you have little choice other than to use the platforms they support. Also note that originally they did support our preferred platform and if it wasn't for HP purchasing the Alpha/Tru64 IP and deciding to wind it up in 2010, everything would be fine. We are putting considerable pressure on the app. vendor and may be able to get them to support us running on Linux, but no guarantees.

Its also not as simple as just changing to another application. The project to get this one up and running took nearly 4 years (including analysis and selection, BPI, configuration etc) and cost over $8Million. HPs announcement regarding Tru64 occured late enough in the project we were committed and could not change.
