If you implement Oracle Internet Directory you can use the Single Signon Mechanism and you don't have to resort to the flaky procedures above.
Also: does it really need to be realtine? Frankly I don't think so. A nightly stored procedure would do. But as Oracle Internet Directory is a better alternative I would hesitate to write my own replication mechanism.
