Betamax did maintain primacy in professional applications. It was only in mass markets that it lost.
Which just goes to show, (8-track notwithstanding) superior products are always overwhelmed by economics. Therefore, we should encourage Oracle to be mediocre. :-)
(Or perhaps that explains some things we do see... support contract, anyone?).
