This can be done, as all the HA control for oracle is shell scripts, and you can just change the bits that do the connection. There may also be a file called RELVER somewhere. I seem to remember having to do something to trick the HA monitor for oracle (the only thing that isn't a script), but it doesn't connect internal anyway.

I also remember thinking that the person who wrote those scripts didn't know enough about oracle, and resisting the temptation to change more than necessary.

And of course, you are instantly unsupported when you do this, but considering the amount of support you can get for SC 2.2 these days...

And don't forget to test failover scenarios.
