this actually reminds of a funny story. Capital One has a big datawarehouse group and requires their contracts to undergo financial background checks before they even interview them. I guess because they are worried that if you are in debt you might steal something.

However they do not do a criminal check to see if you have actually stolen bank account or social security numbers from an employer and sold them on ebay.

Rather odd.
