The tablespaces have not been put into backup mode before the copy is made. Sorry, it's probably very basic: but is this really a requirement as long as no users are logged in?
I mean: do I only achieve "consistent state" by putting the tablespaces in backup mode?
If so, is there any command available how to perform this on all tablespaces for a particular instance?

Ron, thanks. I guess this is the most secure (and only) way to ensure everything is backuped properly.
Are there any negative issues involved with using RMAN? I mena the "RAW mode", one has to take care of control, param files, number of datafiles an so on ...
what would be the benefit of this efforet? ....if it could be more easy by using RMAN?
I am not familiar enough with RMAN - that's why.
