The one you mentioned (2.3 something) seems to be the one. JDBC has a bunch of problems, but I know people who use it for commercial applications.

Software for Macs is, unfortunately, developed intermittently and in most cases by enthusiastic individuals. Maybe OSX will change that a bit.
