MySQL is not ACID compliant unless a second package such as INNODB is added. Now instead of worrying about support for a single opensource product, you need to worry about support and cross compatibility issues with two opensource porducts. Until I see MYSQL as a standalone with full ACID compliance and some large scale production references it is just a hobby database.
