I get the below when setting compatible to 8.1.7.0.0. Now the error does
point to my having done something 9i specific but I'm not clear what this
is - the db is a clean 9i install.
SQL> startup pfile=c:\oracle\admin\<snip>\pfile\init.ora ORACLE instance started.
Total System Global Area 118255568 bytes
Fixed Size 282576 bytes Variable Size 83886080 bytes Database Buffers 33554432 bytes Redo Buffers 532480 bytesDatabase mounted.
