Can someone share his knowledge on this hidden pseudocolumn?

When creating materialized view "with rowid", Oracle8.1.7 usually creates this one index. What if i drop the index on M_ROW$$?

I do not want this strange index occupies disk space. I am going to build some other indexes on the snapshot, and it seems to me I do not need this one.

Can I create snapshot without such an index?

I've just tried to drop it and then succeeded "completely" refreshing my snapshot!

I just can not realize what it is used for by ORACLE REPLICATION MECHANISM if my
snapshot is made COMPLETEly refreshed?

Did I something wrong or legal by dropping the index? Received on Wed Mar 20 2002 - 10:09:23 CST
